Updates
What's new in Sakabar Sessions, newest first, and what's coming.
Coming
- Planned
A public website with a pixel village
A public Sakabar Sessions site you can read as a normal homepage or explore as a small pixel-art village, with docs, updates and a playable preview of the app.
- Planned
Spot agents that are quietly waiting
When an agent finishes its turn by asking you something in plain words, an optional model check will mark the session as waiting for you and send a "Waiting for you" notification instead of "Finished".
- Planned
Review sessions and close finished ones
On request, an optional model will look over your sessions and tag each one as finished, asking you, in progress or unclear, so you can close the finished ones in one go after confirming.
- Planned
Public home-server setup kit
A public setup kit that a coding agent can follow to prepare a home server (Tailscale, SSH, mosh, Herdr, Caddy and the gateway), with a health check and troubleshooting tips.
- Planned
Playful onboarding with progress and achievements
Getting set up should feel like a game, with setup steps shown as progress and achievements and a friendly intro for people who don't have a home server yet.
- Planned
Allowed folders
A setting that limits which folders the app can start sessions in, browse or upload to, so you don't touch the wrong folder by accident.
- Planned
iOS Simulator in your browser
Watch and tap an iOS Simulator running on your home Mac from a browser tab or the phone, streamed over Tailscale.
- Planned
Sign-in for the gateway
Password sign-in with a token per device and a device list you can log out from, so only your own devices can control your sessions.
- Planned
Pi Durable sessions
Long-running Pi Durable agents shown and answered in the same app and dashboard, next to your Herdr sessions.
Done
- Feature
Thinking level per session
Pick how hard the agent thinks for each session from a pill next to the model in the composer, and the pill always shows the current level.
- Feature
"Not checked" filter and Close all
Filter the session list down to the sessions you haven't looked at yet, and close a whole filtered list at once.
- Fix
Survives a gateway restart
The chat keeps updating and your unsent text stays put when the gateway restarts.
- Fix
No false "Not sent" warnings
Messages to an agent that is busy with a subagent are no longer wrongly marked as not sent.
- Feature
Fireflies while plan usage loads
While your plan usage loads, the pixel-art party chases fireflies, and the thinking pill gets a little brain icon.
- Feature
The party repairs the bar while offline
While the app connects or the gateway is offline, the pixel-art party fixes broken tavern equipment instead of showing a plain spinner, even above a list that is out of date.
- Feature
Pixel wordmark on the session list
The Sakabar pixel-art wordmark now sits at the top of the session list.
- Feature
One loading screen for every wait
Every screen-level wait now uses the same pixel-art loading window, with a random walking scene or the bartender.
- Feature
Talk it over as a voice call
Talk through a task out loud in a call-style screen: the assistant answers with a voice running on your home server, you can interrupt it, and at the end it writes a clean prompt for your main session.
- Fix
Messages are checked for delivery
Every message you send is confirmed to have reached the agent's chat, retried once if needed, and flagged if it still didn't arrive.
- Feature
Push notifications on the phone
Get a notification on your phone when an agent finishes or needs you, and tap it to jump straight to that session.
- Feature
Artifacts tab
A new drawer tab lists the pages a Claude Code session published, ready to open.
- Feature
Files tab as a folder tree
The Files tab now works like an editor's file tree: tap to expand a folder, double tap to go into it.
- Feature
Light, dark or system theme
Choose a light, dark or system-matching theme for the web dashboard under Appearance.
- Feature
New app icon
A pixel-art SAKABAR beer-mug icon for the phone app, the browser tab and the home screen.
- Fix
Safer uploads
Uploads skip files that look like secrets unless you explicitly include them, and tell you which files were left out and why.
- Feature
Tokens served counter
See how many tokens your agents used today, this week, this month and in total, with a just-for-fun rank to climb.
- Feature
Compact a conversation
Shrink a long conversation to free up context with one tap from the context ring or the session details.
- Feature
Talk it over
Open a side conversation to think a task through without disturbing the main session, then send the finished prompt to it.
- Feature
Agent character in the chat
A small pixel-art character shows what the agent is doing (reading, working, pondering, waiting for you) and has a drink at the bar when it's done.
- Feature
The Sakabar style and pixel splash
An optional Sakabar look puts a night bar or morning café behind the screens, with a pixel-art start-up splash where the bartender serves a beer.
- Feature
Bartender greets you on New session
The New session page opens with the bartender at the bar, at night or in the morning.
- Feature
This computer status
Check your home server's memory, CPU, disk, battery and busiest processes from a chip next to Settings, with an optional live monitor.
- Feature
File viewers
Open Markdown, code, JSON, CSV, images, SVG, PDF, audio and video right from the Files tab.
- Feature
Upload and download folders
Upload files or whole folders from your phone or browser into a session's folder, and download any folder as a .zip.
- Fix
Clearer stopped tool calls
A tool call that stopped without a result now shows as unfinished instead of spinning forever, and the chat follows Claude Code's live transcript.
- Fix
Clearer reconnecting
Retry and Save & connect show that they are trying, check quickly, and hint at Tailscale when the gateway can't be reached.
- Feature
Herdr tabs in the session list
Optionally group sessions by their Herdr tab inside each workspace.
- Feature
New name: Sakabar Sessions
The app and dashboard are now called Sakabar Sessions, and the server part is the Sakabar Gateway.
- Feature
Simpler New session
Start a session from a default folder, browse to change it like in Files, and name the workspace freely.
- Feature
Live dictation
Your words appear in the composer as you speak and get tidied up when you stop.
- Feature
Finished counts in the session list
The list and each group header show how many agents have finished, and the list opens at the session you're in.
- Feature
Built-in terminal with guard rails
The λ button is always in the composer and opens a shell for the session's folder, with dangerous commands blocked.
- Fix
Safer typing into busy agents
The gateway never types into a dialog the agent is showing, and messages sent while Claude Code works now appear in the chat.
- Feature
Workspace tabs and panes in the drawer
A Sessions tab in the side drawer shows every tab and pane of the workspace, coloured by agent status, with a button to start a new session there.
- Feature
Lighter, faster chat
The connection is compressed and long tool outputs load only when you tap them, so chats open faster on mobile data.
- Feature
Message times and pull to refresh
Every message shows when it was sent, and pulling past the newest message refreshes the session.
- Feature
Clearer approvals
The waiting card shows what an approval is about and its folder, and you can switch between several queued approvals.
- Feature
Unsent text kept per session
Each session remembers what you were typing, on the phone, on the web and across devices.
- Feature
Search and filter sessions
Search the session list by workspace, folder or name, and filter it by workspace or folder.
- Feature
Live replies while the agent writes
Watch the agent's reply stream into the chat as it is written.
- Feature
Chat for Pi, Codex and Cursor
Pi, Codex and Cursor sessions get the same chat view as Claude Code, with their questions shown as tappable options.
- Feature
Voice input
Dictate messages from the composer's mic, transcribed on your home server and cleaned up by Claude.
- Feature
Context, tokens and plan usage
A context ring next to the model shows how full the session is, and the drawer shows tokens, cost and your plan usage per harness.
- Feature
Switch models from the session
Pick the model for any harness from a pill in the composer.
- Feature
APKs tab
Find, install and delete Android builds from compact tiles with their details.
- Feature
Phone app redesign
A refreshed phone look with warm dark and ivory themes, new fonts and a floating New session button.
- Feature
Chat-first session view
Sessions open as a chat with drawers for details, project scripts and chat actions, and questions turn into tappable cards.
- Feature
Android app and live screen
The first Android app, plus a folder picker, a live view of the agent's screen and older messages that load as you scroll up.
- Feature
Gateway and web dashboard
The first gateway and web dashboard: see your Herdr sessions over Tailscale, read them and answer from anywhere.
